HORSE PARK TASK FORCE The Howard County Council has created a horse park task force to study whether the County should pursue the establishment of a horse park in Howard County. Many believe that a horse park would provide the County’s residents with the opportunity to enjoy horse riding trails and that a horse park would represent a unique opportunity to educate school age children and the public about the equine industry. A horse park might provide an economic benefit to businesses in Howard County. The task force will study the issues associated with establishing a horse park in Howard County and advise the Council on the best approach. Specifically, the task force will study the following issues: (1) an appropriate location for establishing a horse park in Howard County; (2) the types of uses that should be allowed at the horse park; and (3) the different types of management structures that could be used to operate the horse park. The task force consists of members appointed in accordance with Council Resolution 114-2007, which also sets out the duties of the task force. Task Force Members Dr. Mike Erskine, DVM, Chair Approved Minutes November 15, 2007 Listen to audio of January 10, 2008 Public Hearing Economic Impact Analysis for a Proposed New Horse Park in Anne Arundel County, MD, March 2006.
