The Transportation & Special Projects Division consists of engineers and support staff managing engineering transportation and park capital projects. These projects include: bridges, parks, roads, sidewalks, and storm drain systems.

Citizen and/or business involvement is needed on virtually all of the projects. Workshops, public hearings, newsletters, and the internet are several means used to reach the public for their input.

The Division is responsible for the development of Howard County storm drain system design standards; and roads and bridges design standards, as established in the Howard County Design Manuals, Volumes I and III, respectively.

Review of traffic impact analyses for subdivisions, and development of transportation planning studies for capital projects is provided by this Division.

The Division also is an active member of the design team for all State highway projects within Howard County.
