Find a Senior Center
Howard County Senior Centers offer a wide variety of programs and services including fitness programs, educational opportunities through Howard Community College and other instructors, arts, music, wellness classes and many opportunities for recreational activities including cards, games, clubs and more. Our focus is on the needs and interests of Howard County’s older adults. Senior Centers also serve as a gateway to the many services offered by the Office on Aging.
The Office on Aging operates six (6) senior centers, one nutrition site and four therapeutic programs for individuals with additional support needs. The Senior Center Plus program operates in three of the county’s senior centers: Ellicott City, Glenwood and North Laurel. The Kindred Spirits Social Club, a club for individuals with a new diagnosis of dementia, is offered at the Glenwood 50+Center only.
All centers offer a noontime meal for individuals aged 60+ and their spouses of any age. Voluntary, anonymous contributions are requested for meals. Individuals under age 60 may purchase a meal at its full cost. The nutrition program provides one-third of the RDA and it also offers a great opportunity to dine and socialize with others!
Membership in Howard County senior centers is free, but registration is required. Visit the center nearest you to register, download a registration packet to complete. Once registered, you will receive a photo id card. You may also sign up for activities and programs online (senior center membership is encouraged, but no longer required).

Senior Center Plus
Senior Center Plus is a supervised four-hour social program for older adults who are interested in structured activities and opportunities for socialization. The program is designed to support the continued independence of the community-based adult and to provide respite services for caregivers. Senior Center Plus directors are licensed, certified health care professionals who lead a caring, experienced and qualified staff of assistants, volunteers, and interns. A participant to staff ratio of 8:1 is maintained throughout the Plus program.
Therapeutic programs and activities are designed to facilitate the independence of participants. Programs include: therapeutic exercise, music/dance, art therapy, memoray enhancement activities, nutrition education/cooking, cards and games, intergenerational activities and more. In addition, a morning snack and a well-balanced lunch are served each day.
Kindred Spirits is a social club for people diagnosed with early stage memory disorder and meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the 50+Center at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center at Glenwood. Highlights include therapeutic activities including music, art, support groups, and exercise. A daily fee of $30 includes snacks, lunch, coffee and tea. The program is sponsored by the Howard County Office on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Maryland.
