With warmer weather and longer days, there's no better time to clean up debris and potential hazards around your home.

-- As you get your lawn equipment up and running again, make sure that gasoline is kept in a proper container that is clearly marked. Keep containers in a cool, dry place away from children and pets.

-- Clean up your work areas. Keep tools, matches and other work items away from children.

-- Make sure you have changed the batteries in all the smoke alarms in your house.

-- Recycle all the stacks of newspapers and magazines that accumulated over winter.

-- Make sure areas around your furnace, hot water tank, fireplace and clothes dryer are clear.

-- Register for that CPR course you have been meaning to take.
