Baltimore County Executive Accepts Job With Ulman Administration – Apparently!

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Ken Ulman announced today that, apparently, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith is coming to work in the Ulman Administration. “I’m excited that Jim has agreed to be one of my staffers,” said Ulman. “His many years of top-level public service in Baltimore County uniquely qualify him to be a junior staffer here in Howard County.”

Executive Smith accepted the job today when he agreed to a wager with Executive Ulman regarding Saturday’s Maryland 2A State High School Football Championship game between Howard County’s River Hill and Baltimore County’s Eastern Tech. Although both Executives are strong supporters of working together to make a stronger region, County Executive Ulman simply could not support Smith’s wildly “off-base” logic on who would win this game. “Not only is River Hill 13-0, they have held 11 of their opponents scoreless. Eastern Tech has had a great season, but Executive Smith is a former judge; he needs to look at the facts,” said Ulman.

Once River Hill wins the championship, Executive Smith has agreed to come to Howard County on Monday, January 28, and serve as a special assistant to Executive Ulman.

“I am a bit concerned that once Jim experiences the quality of life in Howard County: the schools, the parks, the libraries---he might not want to leave. He wouldn’t be the first,” said Executive Ulman. Later in the morning both Executives will visit River Hill High School and speak to a social studies class on governing. At lunchtime Ulman and Smith will have lunch with River Hill’s principal, the championship team and their coaches.

While in the County, Executive Smith will be wearing a blue-and-gold River Hill HS sweatshirt, and wearing it proudly.

***The game is at 3:30 pm on Saturday, December 8 at M&T Bank Stadium***
