Howard County Seeking “Volunteer of the Year” Nominations

ELLICOTT CITY-- County Executive Ken Ulman has announced that nomination forms are now available for Howard County’s 2007 “Volunteer of the Year” recognition program. Executive Ulman and members of the County Council will honor all nominees at the annual ceremony and reception on Tuesday, March 4.

“This is the season for giving, and the start of a New Year seems like the perfect time to honor the individuals and community organizations that give so much back to our community,” said Ulman. “I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ by nominating someone you know who makes a difference in our community. They might be a coach or scout leader, volunteer at a homeless shelter or nursing home – and they are making Howard County a better place to live.”

To qualify, nominees must be either residents of Howard County or do their volunteer work in Howard County. In addition, their volunteer efforts should make an impact on either an individual or the community.

Nomination forms are available on-line at www.howardcountymd.gov. Just look under “What’s New” on the home page. You can also call the County’s Office of Public Information at (410) 313-2022 and ask to have a form mailed to you. Nominations must be postmarked by January 28, 2008.
