Bain Center Celebrates Silver Anniversary

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Bain Center will celebrate 25 years of service to Howard County senior citizens with 12 days of events during the month of April. The Center, which opened its doors in Harper’s Choice Village Center in 1983 as the Florence Bain Senior Center, will host guest speakers, a fireside chat, a book discussion, meet the artist event, entertainment and a special anniversary party with dancing and music by the Goldenaires.

"The Bain Center is a vital part of this community,” said Howard County Executive Ken Ulman. “What a great place for seniors to gather, meet friends, learn new skills, receive important services, be entertained and even share a meal. I want to congratulate the Bain Center on 25 wonderful years and thank the Office on Aging and the staff of the Bain Center for all they do to promote full and dignified lives for Howard County seniors.”

In 1983 the Bain Center served the entire county and welcomed about 25 seniors each day. Today, the Bain Center welcomes about 150 seniors a day and is one of 11 centers providing services to seniors in Howard County.
