OFFICE ON AGING NEWS AND EVENTS
To help older drivers stay safe behind the wheel, the Office on Aging, in conjunction with the Howard County Police Department and the Commission on Aging, will offer CarFit on July 11, 2008 at the Glenwood 50+ Center from 8am to 2pm. CarFit provides a quick but comprehensive check of how well you and your vehicle work together. A trained professional will ask some simple questions and complete a 12 point checklist with you and your vehicle. The entire process takes about 15 minutes, and you will leave with recommendations for car adjustments and adaptations, a list of resources in your area and greater peace of mind. To register for a free CarFit evaluation, call (410) 313-2207. The Glenwood 50+ Center will also host the M.O.V.E. (Mature Operators Vehicular Education) Series beginning this Fall, designed to help mature adults assess and improve their driving skills. Also, watch for AARP's Driver Safety program coming to East Columbia on August 5. Call (410) 313-7680 for more information or to register. |
