Police Officer of the Month

June 2003

Officer Daryn Trout was selected as police officer of the month for June 2003. During the month of June Officer Trout produced an exceptional amount of work and demonstrated excellent enforcement of both traffic and criminal violations. Some of his more noteworthy accomplishments include:

Insight Weapons Violation: On June 3rd, Officer Trout stopped a vehicle on Route 40 at Normandy Center Drive for a moving violation. An MVA check revealed the driver to be suspended. The driver was placed in custody and his vehicle was searched. The search revealed a loaded sawed off shotgun inside an attaché case in the front passenger area. CDS paraphernalia was also located in the vehicle. The suspect had a previous conviction for armed robbery. The suspect was charged with violations including Concealed Deadly Weapons, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of CDS (paraphernalia), and Driving While Suspended.

Insight Stolen Auto/Arrest: On June 9th, Officer Trout stopped a vehicle on Route 40 near Oak Green Circle for an equipment violation. The vehicle was later found to be stolen through Baltimore City. All 3 occupants of the vehicle were arrested. A search of the vehicle located CDS. One of the occupants of the vehicle was also found to be wanted on an open warrant.

Insight Motor Vehicle Violation/DWI Arrest: On June 20th, Officer Trout stopped a vehicle on Route 1 near Route 100 for a moving violation. Officer Trout made contact with the driver and the officer’s observations caused him to believe that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Officer Trout conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver failed and was subsequently placed in custody. The driver took a chemical test with a result of .10 BAC. The driver was charged with DWI and related violations.

CDS Violation/Arrest: On June 20th, Officer Trout was dispatched to the area of Mayfield Ave at Grassy Garth for a reported CDS violation in progress. Suspects were reportedly smoking CDS in the garage of a residence. The suspects then left in a vehicle. Officer Trout observed and stopped the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the area. The driver was contacted and an MVA check revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was searched. The search revealed CDS under the front passengers seat. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.

Officer Trout’s supervisors describe him as eager to learn, motivated and that he displays a good attitude towards police work. He assist other officers on calls for service as a perimeter officer or whatever else is required without complaint.

Congratulations and keep up the good work!
