Police Officer of the Month November 2005 Officer Joe Walch has been selected by Chief Livesay as the police officer of the month for November 2005. PFC Walch, currently assigned to nightshift patrol covering east Columbia, was not only the highest producing officer in his squad but the entire platoon. His exceptional initiatives throughout the month include 14 criminal arrests and over 180 traffic contacts. During a season when so many of our citizens endangered themselves and others by driving drunk, Officer Walch enthusiastically tried to make a difference by arresting eight impaired motorists in 14 days. This proactive police work accompanied his routine calls for service which included writing 92 reports. Beyond his regular activity, PFC Walch checked over 40 businesses while walking at least two foot patrols each shift. During Officer Walch’s off-duty time he represented himself and the department very well by completing a training program that makes him available for ride-a-longs with the Boy Scouts of America. PFC Walch has volunteered to give ride-a-longs to Police Explorers from HCPD Post 1952 and provided his DJ services to the Retired Officers Association for their annual bull roast. Congratulations to PFC Joe Walch for his above and beyond service to the agency throughout the month of November! |
