OFFICER OF THE MONTH

September 2007

PFC Sarah Kayser

Pfc. Sarah Kayser was selected by Chief McMahon as the Police Officer of the Month for September 2007. Pfc. Kayser handled 96 calls for service, had 11 misdemeanor arrests, two felony arrests, two DUI arrests and 81 traffic contacts.

On September 5, while on routine patrol with her recruit, Pfc. Kayser observed a motor vehicle being driven by a subject she knew did not possess a driver’s license. The vehicle was stopped and the subject was arrested. A search of the suspect resulted in additional charges for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

On September 15, units responded to a domestic assault in progress call. Upon arrival, Pfc. Kayser and her recruit made contact with a woman who had visible injuries. The male subject was arrested for assault. As Pfc. Kayser followed the victim into a bedroom to obtain her identification, a large quantity of cash and suspected crack cocaine was observed. Pfc. Kayser and her recruit obtained a search and seizure warrant for the apartment. With the assistance of other officers, the warrant was executed and a handgun, ammunition, $2,400 and approximately 240 vials of suspected crack cocaine were seized.

Pfc. Kayser displayed professionalism, dedication, commitment and a high quality work ethic. The experience Pfc. Kayser provided to her recruit during this month was exceptional.
