Officer of the Month February 2008 PFC Dale Kreller For the month of February 2008, Chief McMahon selected PFC Dale Kreller as Police Officer of the Month. During the month, Kreller produced the following in 14 days of work: 6 FIRs, 75 business checks, 17 insight reports, 43 foot patrols, 57 incidents reported, 24 total arrests (one felony, eight misdemeanors, 11 custodial traffic, four DUIs ) and 177 traffic contacts. In one example of Kreller’s excellent police work, he was operating stationary RADAR in the area of U.S. Route 29 near River’s Edge Road. There he conducted a traffic stop on an SUV that was traveling 76 mph in a 55 mph zone. Upon making contact with the driver, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. After conducting a field sobriety test, he placed the driver under arrest for DUI. A search of the vehicle incident to arrest revealed nearly a quarter-pound of marijuana, a sufficient quantity to indicate possession with intent to distribute. The driver also had several hundred dollars in cash on his person. Kreller seized the vehicle and currency and forwarded all information to the asset forfeiture unit. Kreller’s commitment to the department’s Traffic Safety Initiative was evidenced by his traffic contacts and DUI arrests. Kreller is described as being quick to assist members of his squad and does not hesitate to handle calls in another beat. He is well-rounded by his display of traffic enforcement, deterring criminal activity, investigations and being visible in the community. Congratulations to PFC Dale Kreller for being selected as Police Officer of the Month for February 2008! |
