COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION

The largest component within the Information and Technology Management Bureau, the Communications Division, is a mixture of specially trained call-takers, dispatchers and supervisors who handle all police, fire and emergency medical service calls, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During 2005, Communications personnel processed 212,403 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) incidents. Our technology also allows dispatchers to capture the latitude and longitude coordinates of a person calling from a GPS-equipped cell phone.
