HOWARD COUNTY HOUSING COMMISSION

Function:

The Housing Commission is a separate legal entity which serves as a Public Housing Authority for the purpose of developing and managing housing resources for low and moderate income residents in Howard County. Specific powers of the Commission include: purchase, lease, transfer real or personal property; operate housing developments; construct, improve, renovate housing developments; invest funds held in reserve in securities; utilize federal/state housing subsidies; make rent subsidy to persons of eligible income; and issue bonds.

Number of Members:

7
All must be Howard County residents, with no financial interests in any land or property which is acquired or held for an urban renewal or community development project.

County Executive appoints. County Council confirms.
