MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY COMMISSION

Function:

To encourage and coordinate appropriate activities and ceremonies throughout the county to honor the birthday as well as the ideals and legacy of Dr. King, and to provide assistance to local government and private organizations with respect to the observance of the county and federal holidays honoring the birthday of Dr. King.

Number of Members:

15-20
The Commission shall be composed of twelve adult members and three student members, all of whom shall be appointed by the County Executive. (The 15 member commission can be exceeded if authorized by the County Executive. Currently there are eleven adult members and seven student members.)

County Executive appoints. County Council confirms.
