SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICT

Function:

To provide technical and planning assistance to individuals, groups, and other units of government for conservation of soil, water and related resources.

Number of Members:

5
One district resident, appointed by the County Executive, approved by the County Council; one supervisor, appointed by the State Soil Conservation Committee (SSCC) from a list of three district resident nominations submitted by the County Farm Bureau; one supervisor. appointed by the SSCC from a list of three district resident nominations submitted by the County Cooperative Extension; and two, at-large supervisors, appointed by the SSCC from among residents of the district.

County Executive appoints and County Council confirms one member; State Soil Conservation Committee appoints four members from lists submitted by Farm Bureau, County Extension Service, and from residents of district.
