    Natural Areas

Explore varied natural areas along the 4.25 mile trail which meanders through scenic woodlands, fresh water marshes, and stream valleys. The park lies along the fall line between the Piedmont plateau and the coastal plain, an ideal location to glimpse migrating hawks. Park visitors may also see bluebirds which nest in the area.

During park construction, American Indian artifacts were uncovered. The artifacts are remnants of encampments in the Ilchester area thousands of years ago. The location may have been attractive to the American Indian because of its proximity to the Patapsco River and the abundant supply of nuts and upland game.
