Howard County Volunteer of the Year 2016
Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman, the Howard County Council and the Volunteer Center Service Howard County are seeking nomination for the 2016 “Volunteer of the Year” Awards program. This annual program recognizes people, agencies and groups that have demonstrated commitment and dedication to making our community a better place.
Nominations are being accepted for:
- Individual Youth (18 & Under)
- Individual Adult (Over 18)
- Non-profit Organization or Governmental Agency (recognizing non-profit or governmental agencies successfully engaging and managing volunteers)
- For-profit or Community Group (recognizing for-profit businesses or community groups providing volunteer support to local non-profit or governmental agencies)
To be Eligible: Nominees must be either residents of Howard County or do their volunteer work in Howard County. Their efforts should have a significant impact on an individual or the community; for individual nominations, the nominated service must be performed outside the scope of the nominee’s paid employment. Award winners will have an engraved brick installed in the “Pathway to Excellence” at the County’s Troy Park at Elkridge. Still in the design stage, the pathway will feature bricks etched with the winners’ names and award. The pathway is part of Phase 2 of the park’s design, and is expected to be completed in 2016.
Endorsement Forms: Nominators may also submit up to two additional endorsements from other individuals or organizations familiar with the nominee’s volunteer contributions. Download the ENDORSEMENT FORM.

Deadline: Nomination and endorsement forms must be postmarked by Friday, March 4, 2016.
In addition to the award winners, all nominees will be recognized at a ceremony and dessert reception presented by Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman, the County Council and the Volunteer Center Serving Howard County on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Banneker Room of the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive in Ellicott City. The event is free and open to the public.
