ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to rehabilitate a 14-inch sewer main and an exposed manhole near the intersection at Mission Road and Guilford Road in Jessup, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, July 21st. The project includes removing the exposed manhole at Guilford/Pickett’s Branch stream-crossing, adding two new manholes along the sewer line, and replacing 300 linear feet of existing pipe with 14-inch PVC pipe behind 9933 Guilford Road. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September 2025.

Signs have been posted to alert motorists and residents of the construction. Flagging operations will also be in place as northbound Mission Road from the intersection will be closed during the middle phase of the project for one to two days, for two to four hours a day during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
