Peer Support Staff are available in person:
- Mondays through Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Health Department (8930 Stanford Blvd, Columbia, MD 21045)
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00am-3:00pm at On Our Own of Howard County (6440 - B Dobbin Rd, Columbia, MD 21045)
- Mondays & Wednesdays from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center (10390 Guilford Rd, Jessup, MD 20794)
- Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:30am-4:00pm in the Howard County libraries (see below)
Peer Support Partnership with Howard County Libraries
Are you or someone you know struggling with addiction and recovery and want to learn about available resources and supports? You can now connect with a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) at your local library. All conversations are anonymous and confidential. Drop in, no registration required.
Peer Recovery Specialists will be available at all HCLS branches from 10:30am - 4pm. Click here for the full schedule.

Program Summary: Our Recovery Support team is available to offer support, resources/referrals, and provide training on Naloxone and various substance/chemical test strips.

Program Summary: This phone line provides access to a Peer Specialist with lived experience related to substance use and is a confidential line where text and voice messages can be left.
Hours of Operation: Monday through Thursday 8:00 am – 5:30 pm; 24/7 Friday – Sunday
Substance Use Health kits contain an assortment of items that are useful to those who may be struggling with substance use. Safer sex supplies are also available to help decrease the likelihood of sexually transmitted infections, as well as HIV and Hepatitis C.

Program Summary: Narcan – and the associated training - is available at the Health Department and Monday through Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (please call to schedule)
Referrals - medical services, social service agencies, community supports, wound care, STI/HIV/HCV testing
Program Summary: Staff provide referrals and warm handoffs to a wide range of services, including medical care, social service agencies, and community-based supports. Assistance is available to help individuals connect with services such as wound care and STI/HIV/HCV testing, including scheduling appointments and coordinating access. Services may be accessed through outreach and mobile services, with staff available to support individuals in navigating available resources.
