UPDATE (June 18, 12:30 pm): Howard County Police Department has identified the victim in the June 11 house fire in Jessup as Stephanie Jones, 51.

On June 14, Jones succumbed to the injuries she sustained in a building fire in the 7900 block of Dorsey Run Road in Jessup. The fire remains under investigation, but investigators believe the cause to be accidental in nature.

ORIGINAL RELEASE (June 11): Jessup, MD – At 8:00 PM today, firefighters responded to the 7900 block of Dorsey Run Road in Jessup for the report of a building fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire from the front of a two-story mixed-use building. 

Immediately, firefighters began to bring the fire under control and provide medical care to a civilian located outside of the structure. One adult civilian was transported to the hospital with serious burn injuries. 

The fire took approximately one hour to bring under control. One firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion and transported to the hospital. Mutual aid was provided by Anne Arundel and Baltimore County, as well as Fort Meade. 

The affected building included both a residential living space and an office area associated with an adjacent auto repair business. The fire primarily impacted the residential portion of the structure.

The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
