Howard County Executive Calvin Ball highlighted rental and eviction rights for tenants ahead of August 1st. “This Saturday, many residents will face another month of missed rent due to income loss from COVID-19,” said Ball. “It’s critical that tenants are aware of their rights. Under the current Executive Order issued by Governor Hogan, a court cannot order the eviction of any tenant who can show that their failure to pay rent was a result of COVID-19. While we’ve allocated $1.5 million towards rental and eviction relief, and promoted other relief programs, we know that this crisis is far from over.”

Federal Maryland Delegation Secures Funding for Howard County Fire Department
Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has received $821,257 in federal funding, secured by Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, and Congressmen John Sarbanes and Kweisi Mfume. The funding was awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters – COVID-19 Supplemental (AFG-S) program, which provides funds for the purchase of PPE and related supplies for our nation’s first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Valley Road Storm Drain Improvement Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to improve a storm drain system near 3605-3621 Valley Road in Ellicott City. For approximately six weeks during the project, the northbound lane of Valley Road at the project site will be closed during work hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., eather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November.
