Howard County’s Curbside Recycling Goes Plastic Bag Free
Effective Saturday, June 15, 2019, Howard County’s Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Environmental Services will no longer accept curbside recycling placed out in plastic bags. Items placed out for recycling, should be placed loose in the county assigned recycling bin/cart.

Howard County’s Departments of Public Works and Planning and Zoning will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 21 to discuss the studies related to Council Bill 56-2018 (CB56-2018): Tiber Branch Watershed and Plumtree Branch Watershed Safety Act. The studies were applied to Ellicott City neighborhoods, including but not limited to, Valley Mede, Chatham, Nob Hill, Dunloggin, Dorsey’s Search, Autumn Hill, Taylor Village and Stonecrest.

Howard County receives AAA credit rating from all 3 rating agencies for 22nd year
Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced the county has again received the highest possible credit rating, AAA, from all three bond rating agencies: Fitch Ratings, Moody’s Investor Services and Standard & Poor’s. Among more than 3,000 counties in the nation, Howard is one of only 43 counties to receive a AAA rating from all agencies. The rating affirms Howard County’s ability to pay its debts and gives taxpayers the lowest possible interest when repaying bonds sold by the county.

A Howard County construction project to mill and repave Little Patuxent Parkway between Columbia Road and Broken Land Parkway in Columbia is expected to begin on or about Sunday evening, April 28.
