Howard County Executive Calvin Ball Opens First-Ever Family Support Center in Howard County
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball was joined by U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes, Department of Community Resources and Services (DCRS) Director Jacqueline Scott and other local leaders to formally open the County’s first-ever Family Support Center (FSC). Located at 9790 Patuxent Woods Drive in Columbia (RTA Bus Route 503) and open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the FSC offers comprehensive, family centered, community-based preventive programs at no cost to parents, caregivers and their children ages birth to five.

Many Miles Mews Pond Repair to Begin
A Howard County Department of Public Works’ Stormwater Management Division construction project to repair a storm water management pond located on Columbia Association property behind 9566 Many Mile Mews in Columbia, is expected to begin on or about Monday, January 15, 2024. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September 2024.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced Howard County Government has taken bold steps to further its investment in its employees with the launch of a new paid parental leave benefit, a new option to enroll in a 529 College Savings Plan and ability for all County employees, regardless of their benefit status, to elect to contribute towards a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.
Autumn River Water Main and Sewer Main Stabilization Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to stabilize exposed public utilities at a stream crossing located in a wooded area off Bending Sky Way in Ellicott City, is expected to begin on or about Tuesday, January 2nd. The project will provide cover and protection for the water main and sewer main exposed in the stream. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-January.
