This Memorial Day, the County’s Office of Veterans and Military Families (OVMF) will honor county fallen hometown heroes with tributes posted on its “Fallen Heroes Tribute” website. Scaggsville Elevated Storage Tank Overflow Improvement Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to relocate the overflow of an elevated storage tank near the US 29/MD 216 interchange in Laurel, is expected to begin on or about Monday, June 6th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late June.

Howard County Marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and Protect Week with Elder Abuse Awareness Resource Fair
To help raise awareness about and in alignment with Protect Week (June 13th to June 17th) and World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (June 15th), Howard County’s Department of Community Resources and Services’ (DCRS) will host an Elder Abuse Awareness Resource Fair on Saturday, June 11th. The Fair will feature representatives from AARP Maryland, Howard County Police Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Office, CCCSMD, Age-Friendly Howard County, the Howard County Department of Social Services and other community partners, as well as a document shredding event.

County Executive Ball to Honor COVID-19 Pandemic Community Leaders with “Rise to the Challenge” Awards
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball will honor individuals, businesses and organizations exemplifying outstanding service and sacrifice during the pandemic with a new “Rise to the Challenge” award. Now through July 8th, nominations for award recipients across five categories are being accepted electronically and via mail. The winners will be announced later this year.
