The Howard County Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a community outreach meeting on Thursday, December 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the Roger Carter Community Center’s Caplan Room, to discuss the upcoming tunnel blasting as part of Howard County Executive Calvin Ball’s Ellicott City Safe and Sound plan’s North Tunnel project.

Cherrytree Farms Stormwater Pond Repair to Begin
A Howard County construction project to repair and upgrade the existing stormwater management pond located at 8421 Sand Cherry Lane in Laurel, is expected to begin on or about Monday, December 16th. The project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic and weather permitting, is expected to be completed by mid to late April 2025.

Howard County Government Establishes Energy Saving Days for Holiday Week
Beginning today, June 30th through Thursday, July 3rd, various Howard County Government buildings and office locations will be physically closed to the public for Energy Saving Days. While building and office space will be physically closed, County staff will be working remotely to ensure the needs of community members are still being met.
Howard County Government Closings on July 4th for Independence Day
Howard County Government offices, animal shelter, 50+ centers, Alpha Ridge Landfill, and Maryland courts will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of the Independence Day holiday. As there will be no Friday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim, or food scrap collection on the 4th, the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect for the remainder of the week with Friday collection sliding to Saturday, July 5th.
Furrow Avenue Sewer Extension Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to install 1,651 feet of eight-inch sewer line along Furrow Avenue between Twiford Court and Elmonte Woods Way in Ellicott City, will begin on Monday, July 7th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed in early November.
