Who We Are

The Commission on Aging is a 15-member volunteer advisory board to the Howard County Executive and the Department of Community Resources and Services' Office on Aging and Independence. Individuals are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council for three-year terms. The Commission members represent various age and ethnic groups, diverse professional backgrounds, and different geographical areas of the county.

The Commission welcomes your input, feedback, questions, or concerns.

What We Do

Currently, families and households led by older adults make up more than 16% of our population, and this number will continue to grow. The County facilitates and supports our Commission on Aging to serve residents 50 years and older.

  • We seek input from our associates, relatives, friends, and neighbors regarding aging within the County and the State of Maryland.
  • We share information with, and make recommendations to, the Office on Aging and Independence and the County Executive concerning resources, services, and other matters related to the County’s older adult community.
  • We continue to work closely with Age-Friendly Howard County.
