What is Financial Literacy Month?

Every April marks Financial Literacy Month. In Howard County, we celebrate the opportunity for individuals from all walks of life to learn helpful tips to manage your finances effectively and create a path towards financial empowerment and success.

Every day, individuals make financial decisions which impact earnings, savings, investing and spending. Your credit, debt burden and borrowing power are also money management tools and can impact your financial health.

    • Buying a car can be confusing and traumatic. This Howard County Office of Consumer Protection webinar will teach you how to buy or lease a new or used car or truck for a fair price. Learn to spot and avoid dealer traps and tricks that enrich them but cost you thousands. We’ll cover common car buying and financing mistakes, too, empowering you to drive a better deal. Prices and monthly payments are up but we can help you approach car buying with confidence. Registrants will receive a link to materials that provide more detailed, valuable car buying and negotiating advice. 

      • Presenter: Mark Steinbach, During his 46 years of law practice Mark Steinbach represented hundreds of consumers tricked by car dealers into paying high prices for their vehicles. Mark is a Past President of the Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition (now Economic Action Maryland) and current member of the DC Consumer Rights Coalition.

  • April 22 @12pm: Howard County Educational Benefits Resources Webinar with the Human Resources Benefits Teams for Howard County Employees

    • Bank On Your Success

      Part of the Bank on Your Success program at Truist, this interactive session will help you understand your business' financing options and put you in the best position to get the funding your business needs.

      In this course, you'll learn why businesses borrow, where to turn for funding, and how the lending process works to get you to a smoother, smarter, and often more successful outcome. We'll also provide valuable take-away resources to help you and your business.
